I have been on Ortho-Tricyclogen-Lo for almost 4 months now and my mood has been terrible. I feel depressed and very irritable. Could this be from the pill? What pill would be a good one to switch to?

I agree, when I was on the pill I was very moody, I hated it! I stopped, I'd rather be nervous and safe with sex, than have to go through the side effects of the pill.

Ask your doctor, but honestly there is no pill out there that will not get you pregnant, in a good mood, lose weight, and make you happier all-in-one!

Ortho-Tricyclen-Lo? Good luck! I have 2 friends who both got pregnant while taking it exactly like they were supposed to. They both went pretty crazy, too. Like they were PMSing all the time. Birth control that has worked for me with zero side effects was NuvaRing. The only problem I had with it is that it came out a couple times over the 3 times I wore it while having somewhat rough sex. But as long as it is not out for more than 3 hours, it is still completely effective. The only birth control I would ever recommend.

This could definitely be from the pill. I am taking Ortho-Tricyclen right now, and when you go to get on it, they ask you if you have ever been diagnosed with depression. They ask you this because it makes it worse. You definitely should not switch to the depo shot, that really messed me up. ( I have manic depression). The regualr kind doesn't seem to bother me as much as the Lo kind, but everyone is different. You might talk to you doctor and she what he/she recommends.

Could be. When my doctor put me on Levlin 28 to shorten my periods, I was like a totally different person. I was so irritable I could barely function at work or at home. My poor family thought I was demon possessed. Needless to say, I had to change back to Ortho-Tricyclen (not the low dose) and I was fine after a couple weeks. You should ask your doc about changing your pills.

It is most likely the pill. Everytime I got on any pill or the shot, I would have such drastic mood swings and depression. It is important to get off and find a different one. I was on the 5 year IUD and I didn't have any side affects and it worked great. You could ask your doctor about that one. You should defently get off the pill.

If you want to have friends, i would think about changing. :)

I took the pill for a month and my mood changed. I was on cloud nine. But I also HATE condoms. :)

They make different kinds. Also, my friend swears up and down the patch is the best thing EVER.

I believe that there are several kinds of Birth Control Pills, and your Doctor can prescribe one which suits you.
