I'm going on to Baga in Goa in a few weeks. I want to visit South Goa for a few days and stay somewhere by the beach. I'd like to visit Varca, Cavelossim, Majorda or Arrosim. Which is best and is there any guesthouses to stay in?

There is a lovely family hotel in cavelossim called Dona Samaria
We stayed there twice when it first opened. The owner is called Serafino. The beach is about five minutes walk across a wooded area

I'm just back from Goa, stayed in Palolem for a week. There is loads of cheap accomodation, we were staying in a hut for 400 rupees per night (with ensuite). Patnem and Agonda are also pretty nice beaches, much quieter than Palolem and with a nice selection of guesthouses. Have fun!

You'll have no problem finding cheap accomodation in Goa...or in India anywhere for that matter. Take my Palolem (the most beautiful beach on earth!) bamboo hut on the shores of the Arabian Sea, for $3 a night. Just walk down to where you want to stay and someone will approach you. Have a look at the place and always barter!

The best accommodation is in the beach huts of south Goa beaches. Very cheap in Feb and March.
Palolem is the best.
Agonda is laid back.
Benaulim also offers good choice.
