Humans are not only multicellular beings, where enzymes, water, and a variety of things flow from cell to cell, making the body function properly--humans are warm blooded.
The human body functions to keep a CORE temperature...and actively works to maintain it, especially when we are exposed to a variety of environmental conditions. This is why we sweat and why we shiver. We also need cold/or a cooler environment in certain situations, since we could loose function and die in excessively warm or hot conditions.
Homeostasis.

like you know most things only burn if their hot. burning being a chemical reaction.
the body is a collection of a lot of chemical processes. some of which may need a certain temperature to work. if it gets to cold, the reactions start stopping and your body starts 'malfunctioning' .
your body also tries to keep its temperature up when it gets to cold, thats why you shiver, movement makes heat.
