I am considering buying an Intel motherboard. I heard motherboards from Abit and Asus are pretty good too. Can someone please give me some suggestion?

And what should I focus on to determine a good or bad motherboard?

I want to get a socket 775 motherboard. But I still don't understand why an Asus motherboard can cost $438 while the intel one only cost $215? They have the same socket, same number of ram slots, usb slots, etc... I can't see a difference...

The brands I like are DFY, Gigabyte, Abit, and Asus. Asus is probably my favorite of them all.

Don't ever buy a motherboard without reading a review on it. Head to motherboards.com or tomshardware.com for reviews...

Google best motherboards and read reviews from other people that have bought it and how they like it.

Both the Duron and Celeron are, effectively, slightly stripped down versions of their manufacturers' higher end CPUs. Surprisingly, though, recent Duron chips have delivered better-than-expected performance, and with prices for them coming in under £40, they make for a sound budget investment. The Celeron doesn't compare well in terms of either performance or price to the Duron, and is best avoided unless you truly need an Intel chip.

it is not about the brand.

If you wanna build a new CPU
Determine what kind processor, HD, VGA, RAM, and other hardware you prefer, then you can see what matherboard you can use.

If you wanna upgrade your CPU
As iam said, your hardware needs specific motherboard, if you want to buy a new one, make sure the new motherboard support all your harddrive.
