Ginger is great for a cold. Grate some(about a teaspoonful) into hot water, add lemon juice and honey.
One of our home remedies for a really bad chest cold is to take two or three cloves of garlic, pound them until the garlic goes translucent, then add three tablespoons of honey and mix till the garlic has evenly mixed. Take a teaspoonful of this every four hours. Onion soup is very good too, when made with milk.
Cinnamon tea is very helpful too. Get well soon!

The best most natural one I have found is lemon
and chopped ginger
boiled in water for 5 mins gently
then sweetened with honey
ginger is anti inflamatory so really good properties for a cold
Also if you buy elderberry juice (ring a friend to buy ingredients if you can )
the unsweetened variety its an anti viral
so taken early enough can prevent the cold from taking hold
I have found,
along with the jiuce of oranges
for high doses of natural vitamin C
eucalypuus oil for putting on tissue to inhale (de congestant)or using with a tea light burner (about 5- 10 drops in water ) good room antiseptic for lungs
I wish you well and peace

i just start popping vitamin c, 2,000 mg at first, then 1,000 every 4 hrs.
lots of fluids, keep hydrated, and flush the system.
garlic is good, chicken soup actually has some stuff in it that clears your head, i add hot sauce to it too.
sleep, sometimes i use nyquil.
also, just found this info
COLDS:
Those suffering from common or severe colds should take one tablespoon Luke warm honey with 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon powder daily for 3 days. This process will cure most chronic cough, cold and clear the
sinuses.
i have not been able to kick my cold this time, but am going to try the cinnamon thing..
good luck

PLEASE try these 3 remedies...EVERY time I feel run-down or get that tickly feeling in my throat I take these 3 things and it NEVER turns into a full-blown cold.
1) Olive Leaf Extract by "Herb Pharm"....it's in liquid form, and has no side effects...it immediately goes to work to kill any viruses in you...and it's all natural.
2) "JarrowDophilus", by "Jarrow Formulas"...it will keep the healthy "flora" in your body in perfect balance which keeps your immune system strong.
3) "Emergen-C" Vitamin C packets by "Alacer"
All three can be purchased at "Whole Foods Market", possibly "Trader Joe's", or call your local health food store to inquire about these 3 products.
EVERY friend and family member who has taken this advice, hardly ever gets sick.
For your throat: "Peaceful Mountain--Throat Rescue"
You will NEVER find a more powerful throat spray which is all-natural....soothing, fast acting, and kills bad bacteria on contact.
You'll see!! :) Get well soon!

Squeeze a lemon into a mug, add a spoon of honey and hot water. A nice bowl of chicken soup is great. I always find a really spicy curry with loads of garlic in it helps clear your head too. Wrap up warm and make sure you keep your fluids up.
Hope you feel better soon.

There is no cure for the cold virus..... medications only relieve signs/symptoms associated with having a cold. The only way to cure a cold is to let your body's natural defenses (ie helper and killer T-cells along with the antiferon) take its course of action!
