Why is it, that when after the rebels have thier meeting for planning to destroy the Death Star, they say "May the force be with you"? Nobody in the rebelion uses the force. The only person remotely close to that is Luke Skywalker, but he doesn't even know how to use the force yet. It's just one of those things that make the movie the way it is.

I think they were saying it just to say it. I am a big Star Wars fan and have wandered that myself. Like you said, there were no other Jedi (from Episode 3 we learned that most were wiped out during the Clone Wars), so they wouldn't have had a Jedi to say it to during the briefing (again like you said, since Luke wasn't trained).

Well, as you see with the 'rebirth' of the original three movies and the creation of the new movies (eps 1 through 3), you'll see that George Lucas still has a wet canvas and a paint brush. A lot of people don't like it and I don't care for it much either, but what can you do, he owns the franchise, and he is still making a but load of money, regardless of how botched they could have made the Greedo-Han Solo scene. People are always trying to fix the old stuff to fit the new stuff. It isn't necessary, we aren't two year olds who aren't going to understand what they're watching anyway. Just like with Star Trek, they made fun of the Klingon's with ridges versus ones without a few times, but they took it too far in Enterprise by making up some foolish genetic alteration story line. Jesus, ok, so you all changed some things down the road, it was friggin 20 to 30 years ago, GET OVER IT!

I agree, it was for wishing everyone well.
And yes, the Force is with everyone... but the Jedi's have the capability of harnassing its power.

LOL @ all the Star Wars "haters" ... they're classics and will always last the test of time.

They all believe in the Force, even though none of them can use it. It's like those who aren't clergy, also believe in God.
