I will never come to this thread again and ask another question, because it is obvious that most lgbt's are convinced that they are in the right place with God, and that this country does not suffer for its sinful actions against God. We live freely believing that there is no eternal consequence for our actions, people burn in thier unethical lust towards each other, and lack pride in being in a country that has to fend off global attacks because of GOD blessings upon this country. Do people truly prefer happiness over truth? One man says that Jesus was Gay, another says they are on the right spiritual path, but what God are you referring to? I ask this because as the USA defends its soil against foriegn assailants, though we are not perfect, still being a fallen world we have the chance to repent and bring people into the light of truth, the light of GOD. Surely you cant believe that you are right? Nonetheless the question is do people prefer thier own self fulfillement? Over truth?

To the young lady who said they will "Deal' With GOD when they get there. That is the mentality that makes me cringe. You misinterprat what that scripture means. I ask again do you prefer happiness over truth? To believe in GOD is to believe everything GOD says. You can believe in the one true GOD, if you believe in something that left you here to deal with life on your own. You wont deal with GOD, he will deal with you.

Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not.

2 Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.

3 And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure.

4 Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law.

5 And ye know that he was manifested to take away our sins; and in him is no sin.

6 Whosoever abideth in him sinneth not: whosoever sinneth hath not seen him, neither known him.

7 Little children, let no man deceive you: he that doeth righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous.

8 He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works.

I am certain as i look at the history of alot of frequent responders that the opposition in ITSELF is the fuel to the fire of resentment for being told the truth.

Yes, unfortunately most people prefer happiness to the truth. I, for one, do not. In this day and age we are in a hedonistic society, the truth hurts, and thus people want to avoid it. The Bible is a piece of literature that all should read, but it is more than just a piece of literature, it is the word of God in written form! However, in society the liberals have come to power and because of their anti-Christian and pro-sodomite ideals, we have become silenced. I have nothing to fear though, as God will judge all, and we who are faithful will be rewarded. The gays will suffer.

Truth is left up to your interpretation of the facts at hand. People say that we are wrong according to God. Actually it's not God that says we are wrong it is a Bible that has been translated so many times that the original meanings have been lost. There are books that were not included in the Bible when it was put together. These books were not put in because the men putting this together didn't like what they said. There is proof of this, it isn't conjecture.
I would like the truth, but what is that. To get the real meaning of the Bible should I read the Dead Sea Scrolls, as they are the original bible. Or should I read the Torah. Should I worship God, or Allah, or Budha. Who's right?

I disagree that evolution is truth or that Christianity will bring happiness. That aside, I would choose the blue pill, because it is impossible for humans to know the truth anyway. I would rather be blissful and ignorant rather than miserable and ignorant. (Added) You are making many questionable assumptions. I think it would be better just to ask whether people would prefer truth or happiness, without attaching one or the other to a certain belief system.

This is a false dichotomy that does not really exist. It is based on the false belief that the Bible is the Word of God.

The canon of the Bible was not formalized until the Council of Carthage -- when it affirmed a resolution of the synod of Hippo recognizing a group of books drawn together and claimed as divine by Bishop Anathasius. Anathasius did not even coin the word canon until 327 and the Council of Carthage did not formalize the list approved by Hippo until the 390s, and then sent it on to "the Church across the sea" (Rome) for the Pope's approval.

There are no full copies of what is now considered scripture until the 4th century. There are two copies from the 4th century (Codex Vaticanus and Codex Sinaiticus) together with hundreds of manuscript fragments of various forms (Papyrus and Vellum Manuscripts and Vellum Palimpsests). Overall there are over 5000 copies of at least part of the present canonical Bible that are from the sixth century or earlier. These range from a few verses to whole books, to Bibles that were read in churches. According to Dr. Bart Ehrman, one of the foremost experts in the world on Textual criticism and Textual reconstruction, those manuscripts have between them at least 200,000 differences. Some of those differences are minor, or meaningless -- but some are very important and would change core Christian doctrines like the Virgin birth of our Lord and his divinity -- among others.

One does not need to be an expert to see that the Bible is fiction, and not the Word of God however. Even the American Bible Society explains scriptural accreation as starting with Hebrew tribesmen telling stories around a campfire. That is exactly where the earliest parts of the Bible started -- then it was expanded through midrash and so forth.

Looking at the received texts, the idea of Sola Scriptura becomes evidently ludicrous. The Bible says that the world has corners (Isaiah 11:12) and that it sets on pillars (I Samuel 2:8). It says that God accepted a human sacrifice -- he may have prevented Isaac's, but he allowed a general to sacrifice his own daughter without even a murmur, the text giving tacit support to the idea that having given his word, the man had to kill his child. (Judges 11:30-39). It clearly maintains that genocide is often commanded by God (Joshua 10:40-42 and I Samuel 15: 2, 3 and 8) and that, after killing all the adults in a race, taking the female children as sex slaves is permissible (Numbers 31: 17-18).

The God revealed by the Bible is not only both a liar who doesn't know the natural laws of his own world, and a monster, as shown above -- but he has no real regard, even for his own people, whom he forces into cannibalism (Leviticus 26: 27-29) when he is mad at them; or his priests, whose faces he wipes with dung (Malachi 2:1-3).

It is not only gays and lesbians that are hated by bible-god. This monstrosity also suggests killing kids who eat or drink too much (Deuteronomy 21: 18-21), and says that if he is angry with parents he will kill their children (Leviticus 26:22) and he blames things upon children whose great-great-great grandfathers committed the things being blamed on the kids (Exodus 20: 5).

Putting it in a word, bible-god is a monstrosity, a horrific demiurge of evil. Something that even he admits ( Isaiah 45:7 ) [Furthermore, the word used in Hebrew for evil, the word ra' is widely conceded to mean a number of different things: It can mean "wickedness," "mischief," "bad," "trouble," "hurt," "sore," "affliction," "ill," "adversity," "harm," "grievous," and "sad." So no matter what particular interpretation is given of this word -- it has profoundly negative implications. The idea that god is sovereign over the affairs of man makes this even worse, because no matter what interpretation it has, it indicates that bible-god deliberately does harm.]; evil about which he sometimes changes his mind (Exodus 32:14). What a font of unchanging morality -- that almighty God can decide to kill an entire people, and then be talked out of it by a human servant... Furthermore, it is obvious, if God can change his mind, then even if the Bible were not full of errors and horrors, you could not trust that God had not changed his mind on any other issue in it.

So, yes, I suppose if one wants to take as truth a book that says that beetles have four legs instead of six (Leviticus 11: 21-23) and that rabbits chew their cud [which they do NOT] (Deuteronomy 14:7) and if you are willing to, having accepted it as truth, overlook the fact that bible-god routinely changed his mind (I can show you other instances if you wish) then yeah, I suppose its words would matter and gays are therefore going to hell.

I on the other hand, while a Christian (as in Christ follower) am NOT a literalist, and do not think that a book of bronze age myths owing heavily to the Sumerian and Egyptian myths in the Old Testament and to a collection of pagan faiths, particularly Mithraism in the New Testament matters at all.

Christianity is centered around love, faith in Christ, and Eucharist. At best the Bible is sacred because of its place in the life of the early church and should be regarded as holy myth -- stress on the myth. And what is a myth? It is fiction.

Reynolds

I believe that people prefer the both, its funny how you people come in here wanting to spread the word of God, and have nothing but negative attitude towards us..I wonder if the world of God comes with that or you people just add it on your owe, now all this quotes your quoting...your quoting a book that MAN created...you want us to have faith in a book, when we have faith in the idea tha God loves unconditionally..but if we go by what we have read in the "book" of GOD didn't he also right the Ten Commandments and if my memory services me it said nothing about being gay in there...and aren't those God's rules of life????

Whether someone is in the "right place" with their deity of choice is neither your concern nor your problem.
Any form of deity that would punish innocents and allow attacks upon the land that they live in because of the actions of others is Purely EVIL and does not deserve reverence or followers.
Your Mythology is not the only form of religion out there nor is it the absolute truth. Go and live your life according to your beliefs and allow others to live their lives by theirs. Your ranting and raving does not draw one person closer to believing as you do.

As far as your "I will never" promise, I will hold you to that lest you be branded both a False Prophet and False Witness.

Continue on your path (out of here). Continue shining your beacon for God (may He and not it guide you). I wish you well.

I might ask which God YOU are referring to? I might also ask who are you to presume to know the Mind of God? I might even ask why would God interfere in the actions of men?

To answer this question, one needs to understand what you mean by truth. I live by my own truth, which seeks to harm no one. It both fulfills and validates my existence in my eyes - although, if you're fixated on a perceived truth derived from an outdated and corrupted text, that might not be sufficient for you. However, I'm not here to satisfy your judgment. Instead I am answerable to whatever it is that is Divine (both within me and before me).

I wish you well on your path.

Well if God didn't want there to be gay people...he wouldn't have made them.

We only have a short time on this earth. Let's spend that time doing better things than going into a Y!A forum and blast people that you don't even know.

If you are that religious you would also know that...

"judge ye lest ye be judged"

You are NOT God...let us deal with Him we when get there!

You have your God I will have mine. I know that God DOES love me, I am a good person. Sorry that you don't understand that.

I don't think that it was said..Love thy neighbor....unless they are gay.

Don't remember seeing that anywhere.

Not everyone beleives in YOUR God, and not all gay pepole care what any God thinks about them. If there is no life after death, and if God isn't real, why should I live my life worrying about what this imaginary being thinks is right and wrong.

I live my life to be happy. If I am wrong, let God be the judge. It is not your place! I would gladly trade happiness on this earth for hell after I die.

First off, you do not know what the truth is, you believe you know. That's a very wide chasm to be crossing with your hubris and presumption. I would be very careful with that Pride you are clearly carrying, after all, it is the first of the mortal sins.

It is not for you to say what is truth, it is for God and our own hearts. Keep that which you believe in your heart and I shall keep that which I believe in mine.

I'm not gay, my friend but have a lot of friends who are. I accept them for who they are and love them as themselves. People come here with honest questions and looking for support. They do not come here to be bashed. That is what the religious section is for.Maybe you should indeed spend your time over there looking for "lost souls". Most people here know who they are and are quite happy with that. God will deal with people according to what is in their heart, not what their appearance or orientation is.
