My husband and I have been trying to get pregnant and I think I might be. I am supposed to start my cycle Wednesday, Jan. 7 but I was wondering if I could go ahead and test. I have some symptoms: headache, different kind of discharge, VERY SORE BREASTS, and lots of gas. What do you guys think? Could I take a test today? I WANT TO KNOW!!!!!

I assume you meant February 7?

You can take the early response (EPT, First Response) tests "up to 4 days before your period." Make sure you take it with first-morning urine, where the HCG hormone is most concentrated.

However, for the sake of money, I would wait until the actual day of your period, because you might still get a negative now, but you MIGHT be pregnant. Those sound a lot like my symptoms. Good luck!

I would say go for it...I felt some of the symptoms you are having and took a test although it came out negative, 1 1/2 weeks later I took another test and it was positive. I used first response the second time. You know the fastest and best way to find out though is to have a blood test done, you can call your doctor and have an appointment set up, just make sure your health insurance covers it or you could end up with a huge bill.

You could test today with a test that claims to be able to tell earlier than the rest, but the % of accuracy is lower before you actually miss your period, so you could get a false negative.
