many of us have very ancient tribal roots...some of us newer ones...some tribal people and traditions are still very much alive and kicking the world over...

do you think the world as it is now and we as the humans in it would work better if we all took on our tribal/pack status again?...why...or why not???...

I think that the problems of the modern world are derived from a very present pack (herd) mentality (large pack though that may be). Blindly following the behaviour of the majority probably was a necessity, being of more importance the further you go back into the past, but now has no use to the social evolution of the species in the vast majority of cases. If you mean that we should split into very much smaller groups, I'm sure that the result would be a lot more fighting though on a considerably smaller scale (lower body count).
We need to teach individuality, strength of character and understanding of others, finally leading to a global race of earthmen. Down with blind conformity, up with co-operative individuality.
At present, I seem to be the only individual on the planet - was I adopted?

I think for most of us it would be impossible to determine where our roots lie. I know a bit about my geneology and have ancestory from France,Spain, Ireland, Scotland and the Isle of Man. The Clans of Ireland and Scotland would be considered as part of a tribal status, but which should I belong to! Connell(I) or Macdonald(S).
As I'm sure most people would find their own family roots a pretty mixed bag of Countries too, how could we know what traditions to follow?
I think we need to do the opposite and ignore racial or tribal backgrounds or how our Ancestors behaved and all concentrate on being of the one Race we all belong to...... The Human Race!
Could it happen? I doubt it and not in my life time! We can but dream!

Those tribal packs were just as warlike as the modern ones ... (actually moreso) we'd still wanna kill each other off.

Maybe the 'packs' were the problem ... the only reason that we might be better off is because the weapons couldn't destroy the world ... or the ozone layer.

So therefore .. at least the earth/world would work better.

''Tribal roots'' are at the root of many of todays problems... and the packs are just now nations, religions etc... people still hunt in packs .. they just call it coalitions..

but I know what you meant ... I think .. ;-))

If I understand the question correctly you suggest we revert to life in small dispersed tribes, the way it was thousands of years ago?
Some people even today are living this way in reservations (indians in US for instance or some tribes in Africa)
However if you are sugesting that the whole of humanity reverts to such life and abandons the cities and the modern technology I think the only possible cause of that would be an all out nuclear conflict.
On a side note, living in a small tribe has advantages as well as disadvantages - think how many specialists it takes to keep newborns death rate low...

Are you kidding? The grass is not greener on the other side, or rather the past was not much rosier. Time has, perhaps dampened our memories and we tend to look on the "Good Old Days"

I tell you there was nothing good about FGM, the killing of twins at birth because they were considered evil and a host of other traditions.

With one who doesn`t have a T.V as I just don`t have time to watch it,it probally would be better if we all had something better to do so I am all for anything that makes us not forget where we came from however, perhaps the youth of today wouldn`t want to get involved in that sort of thing?who knows?

I do believe we should go back to "survival of the fit-est". Grow a brain and use it or die. I'm tied of the stupid people getting away with a slap on the wrist. And by "stupid" I mean people who refuse to use common logic and take responsibility for their own actions NOT the mentally challenged.

No such thing as the "human race." The human species is made up of many races.
