without the need to have the entire world knowing of their "good deeds". Whenever I've gone out of my way to help someone in need never have I ran my mouth & told people, "hey, this is what I did, she's doing okay now b/c of me." If you do a favor for someone or help them out of a hole, it's b/c you want that person to shine & NOT you. The reward is knowing that person is a bit better off b/c you were willing to be a silent helping hand. I can't stand it when folks run around pretending they care to get attention & acceptance from others. Anyone here agree....

Not livin' in a fantasy world although you have made a great point. Trust me when I say I'm not the nicest person you shall ever meet but simply enjoy helping people every now & then when it is needed & definitely don't want the fame & glory for it, either. I must agree - brutal, this world is!

Maybe they publicize their good deeds cuz they think being remembered after they die, by people left here on earth, is more important than their final judgement from the "Higher Up"!

You're living in a fantasy world. Few people are willing to go out of their way to help another solely out of the goodness of their hearts. You're right: a great many who do help others, or who pretend to, make darn sure it's known far and wide. Just look at that moral underclass known as "politics". You'll never see a politician doing good without a busload of press people tagging along to film and record every second of his or her "largesse".

A couple of recent studies done at major universities here in the US asked college students how likely they would be to stop and help out another person in distress if that assistance would go unnoticed by anyone other than the recipient. Only seven percent said they'd help. When the question was "would you help another in distress if it'd get you mention on the six o'clock news?" that number went up to eleven percent. If, however, these same college students were asked if they'd do it for pay, only thirty percent would do it for minimum wage. Fewer than half would do it for any reasonable sum.

Sounds brutal, but that's the way the world works. If you are that rare kind of person who will go out of your way to aid someone in distress, you're to be admired - but in practical terms, you will find that your ability to do so is quite limited. You have to eat, pay the rent, meet your own family's needs... You really want to help folks? Join with your church, your local fire department, the Red Cross, the Salvation Army. You will be many times more effective as part of a dedicated group such as these and you won't wear out nearly as quickly. The Salvation Army is particularly good at relief efforts, and no, you don't have to be a religious fanatic to find that your volunteer efforts on their behalf are welcome. You must be certified by them to gain admittance to a disaster area, however - too many thieves and worse turn up pretending to be there to help for there not to be a certification requirement. They can tell you quite a few horror stories about just that kind of people who crawled out from under their rocks after Hurricane Katrina down in New Orleans...

I agree, I do good things for people all the time and I never go around and brag about it, because you should just have a good feeling inside about what you've did and you shouldn't have to go out of your way to let the world know.

I think most people do this thinking that people will repay them but in the end with their good deeds, the Lord will repay them.

there are lots of people who do nice things for other without getting recognition for it----however, sometimes it is nice to be noticed when we do good deeds==== we all need affirmation from time to time. The motive for helping others should be simply to bless others and not for anything alterior. There are all different kinds of people in this world....keep doing good!

I do agree with you. I am like you I help people out and don't care who knows it. The people who do stuff and expect something in return they are doing it all wrong. I do it and don't brag about it. The good feeling I get inside is what makes it worth my wild and seeing the look and hearing "Thank you or I really do apperciate your help." makes me feel really good.
