Y2K was a rumour. its purpose was to boost the computer software market, so that it becomes more advanced, etc...

that's just my opinion.

but wikipedia seems to have a different view on it.

Hope this helps, Peace.

two reasons:

1. it was never as bad as what the media led everyone to believe - as always, they were after ratings and creating a 'doomsday' scenario was a way to sell papers; and
2. a lot of work was put into making sure that there would be no problems in the lead up to the new millenium. there were some minor glitches, but technology was in general advanced enough to deal with it.

Actually, it did happen. The year 2000 came and went but, fortunately, a lot of people put in a lot of effort and, at least as far as computers were concerned, were ready for it. There were a few minor glitches but due to a huge amount of work, the worst possibilities were circumvented.

There was a disaster. The $400 billion spent to prevent it drained productive money out of the economy and caused the latest recession. It is illogical to point out that new computers would have been bought anyway, just like buying a new anything before the old one is used up is financially counter-productive.

I think it was to scare us all. I believe it was the hand of God to not let everything go crazy. I had my doubts when 2000 came nearer.

Because the 'problems' were hyped by the news media.

They are more interested in increasing their ratings than in giving you accurate information.

Because our computers and network system aren't as weak as everyone seems to think. We've come a long way with technology and to think it would all come crashing down in one night is somewhat silly. Just my opinion, thanks for reading.
