Suppose that the wolves on Isle Royale die off because of disease or genetic defects from inbreeding. Should we (a) intervene and import new wolves to help control the moose population or (b) let the moose population grow until it exceeds its carrying capacity and suffers another population crash?

I'd say A, but first, I'd make sure that the wolves brought in would not succumb to the same disease that wiped out the previous lot.

I think that we should do A.

I like to go to Isle Royal every year and I would hate to see either animal die off from the island.

Anytime human's intervene, it turns out bad. The rat problem in Hawaii is a perfect example. They brought mongoose to the island to fight the problem, only to find they now have a mongoose and a rat problem.
