I thought Will Smith was doing the film version of 'I Am Legend', the book that The Omega Man was based on as opposed to an actual remake of the film.
The book has vampires rather than mutants as the enemy and differs from the film in quite a few other ways.
I do like the film but having just read the book, I have to say the book is a lot better
The hero of the book is blonde and white BTW

The Omega Man is a great film but the book its based on (I Am Legend by Richard Matheson) is so much better.
The other film version, The Last Man on Earth starring Vincent Price, is much closer to the original, zombie-vampires hunt the hero, and is also worth a look.
After having seenwhat Will Smith and Hollywood did to Asimov's I Am Robot I really can't muster much enthusiasm for this.
I really hope I'm wrong as Richard Matheson is a vastly under-rated writer of TV & film screenplays (such as Duel) as well as writing his own novels.

The original was a ground breaking landmark in film and isn't shown often enough. However the younger generation, who have never seen it, might relate better to the remake with Will Smith.

Love the original. Find it very dark. Is the remake actually going to happen. I've read that Ridley Scott has been interested in doing it but I don't think it's anything definite

It will going to be funny, because in the original, many of the mutants are black people agaist the white guy, so, now is the inverse, i think is fair he he. LoL
