Ideologically we have said good bye to "socialistic pattern of society" that we swore by for four decades... by opting for the WTO agreement... Politically we have drifted from national to more regional interests... The rulers are often dependent on the support of parochial regional outfits labelled as political parties...
Socially, the Indian tradition has waned giving place to western manners and thoughts (particularly, the "liberal" life...). Spiritually, there is an increase in the activities of all major religious groups - Xian, Hindu, mixed (who attract all people for common good of health and harmony).... If proclaimed terrorists are creating havoc for some declared goal (political, social or religious), the civilians posing as servants and spokesmen of the people are creating more silent havocs by encouraging splits in harmonious groups...
So we are marching in different directions, mostly wrong ones and occassionally seeing a silver lining in the shape of restraint and patriotism of some groups... If these small groups get strengthened there is still hope for the country..
