I have a really nasty neighbour who is obsessed with bonfires.He has at least 3 a week.He even burns newspapers just so he can have one,he starts it up then goes to work,leaving my garden consumed by thick grey smoke,i can't remember the last time i managed to hang washing outside and my dog always smells of smoke!Is there a law against this?Help!

local bye laws,see your council,we can have a fire but not till after 18_30,nuisance fires they are classed has,tell your local council and they will sort it!hope that helps to make your( life great again)!!

Call up your local fire department. Starting a bonfire and then going to work is extremely dangerous. Contact your local council as well - they must have rules against this. I'm sure if he gets a fine he will change his ways.

Take a garden hose and wet EVERYTHING he owns down. Use his water spigot. If he calls the law or gets upset, just tell them his property was on fire and your phone would not work. You were trying to help!

Wait until he goes to work and then get your hosepipe out. Keep doing it until he realises something's not quite right. Mind you - your neighbour sounds a little thick so it could take a while! :-)

There is a law against it, and you need to get in touch with Envirolmental Health a.s.a.p.

Keep a diary, photo and video evidence and take it to the council.

yes there is!! get in touch with your local council (if your UK) and find out the hours are...there are certain hours that you are not allowed to start a fire!

Check with your local police department. as soon as he leaves for work spray the fire with your hose.

If he leaves the fire unattended and goes to work he can definitely get done for it.

complain to the local environment agency as he cannot do so many every week they may say have you asked him already .......you need to ask him politly first .....if he still carries on go to them and if you can make a note of when he has been doing it that will help ..............
