Baking soda and coke is da bomm.

You get a double whamy with the acid in the coke (phosphoric acid) reacting with the baking soda to make CO2. Plus you get the surface area of the powder and bubble as nucleation sites for releasing the dissolved CO2 in the coke.

This works really good with those 1 litter bottles, half full of coke. Put the baking soda in the cap. Invert the cap quickly over the bottle like you are going to put the cap on, but don't put the cap on. Powder falls into soda. Soda fizzes up until it reaches the constriction at the top of the bottle. Coke shoots everywhere. Good fun out on the lawn !
