It has been my experience that guys really don't give a rip about V-day, it's pretty much a girl thing. Guys get uncomfortable getting stuff like that, and feel put on the spot to pretend they're all excited or like it. Give him a break. And if HE remembers to get YOU something, or even just remembers the day - feel lucky!

OMG!! Me either, I've had boyfriends in the past, but we'd always break up b4 or end up going together after the holiday of Valentines Day some time and it just wouldn't last...
But now I've been with my boyfriend Carl for 6 months (7 months on the 15th!!!)... & I there's never been a Valentines day where I absolutely HAD to get my boyfriend something! But this time it is...& I'm usually great at giving gifts...but getting a Valentines Day gift for a guy is hard ((especially being a virgin practicing abstinence!!))...I'm putting together a nice gift bag with chocolates, hot cocoa, a big M&Ms mug, candy, bears and balloons...it's really cute...
He told me anything I get him, he'll love...so that made it a LITTLE easier...he always gets me great gifts though...
So do what I did...put together a nice gift bag or basket filled with his favorite chocolate or candies...& other fave things...

If you don't like the holiday, don't celebrate it!
It's nice that you want to do something for him, but tell him that you don't like the holiday and that you really don't want anything from him either. He'll probably understand because most men don't get very much into the holiday.
He'll probably be glad, but then again...He could have already gotten you something.

As stated above, guys don't really get into the V-Day thing. If you really want to give a guy something he will remember, give him something you would not buy someone for V-Day.
A video game, a part for his car, dinner out is ok, but make it a place he loves (Hooters?)
In the end, don't expect him to gush about your gift. Expect him to be uncomfortable and a bit shy about it. He may say thanks, but he may just nod. Guys aren't the greatest at this.
In the end, the best gift you can give a guy is probably sexual...but don't expect a bit thanks for that either.

I recommend something small, inexpensive, and something that will be valuable to him. Only you know what your boyfriend likes though.
I bought my boyfriend a pair of socks and made a card from scratch telling him why I am happy to have him in my life - except I made it humorous and somewhat brutal, yet it still conveys the idea of "I love you"

Have his favorite pizza delivered to him for lunch. you could drop off a card at the pizza place to go with the pizza when you pay for it.

Make him coupons for things you will do for him. Not all sexual but some would be fun.
