I know dodman is a Norfolk word for snail, and that dodmen were ancient druid type fellows who followed ley lines and mapped them. I would like some more info relating to why snails were called dodman in Norfolk or more info on dodmen (or dead men).

There's a little info on this website (below). If you go to it, then type "Dodman" into "find on this page" you go some way down and a Chris Hall discusses dodman and suggests it might be because snails have the two eyes on their heads on stalks or staves.
