ok first, make sure that the hard drive is set as the main boot device. next, make sure that your hard drive is properly plugged into the computer, and that it has power.
if you have more than one hard drive, make sure the one with the operating system on it is set as the "master" and the other one as "slave".
if none of these steps fix the problem, then the section of your hard drive which has the hard drive has become corrupted. find the OS install/repair CD. the CD should have come with your computer or your OS. insert the CD into the drive, and change the boot sequence in the BIOS so that the computer boots from the CD drive. next, reboot your computer. the system install/repair menu should appear, if not, read the computer manual to find out what keys you must press to get there. attempt to preform a system repair on your computer.
if that fails, then the only option left is to either take your computer to the shop, or wipe your hard drive and reinstall windows.

Use the restore disc that came with your computer. You need to install (or reinstall) your OS.
If this happened all of a sudden, then it is possible that you may have hard drive corruption, so you might want to consider replacing the hard drive. It could have also been cause by a virus, though, so don't just rush out and buy a new drive.

Right after you hit the start button, hit key F8 and hold it down for a few seconds. That will start you in SAFE mode.
Once its loaded up in safe mode (icons will look funny) Then go to Start, Programs, Accesories, System, System Restore.
On System Restore calendar, pick an earlier date to restore to say a couple days back at least. Hit restore after you have picked an earlier date. Restore of system to earlier date when compute worked fine will then be complete
Next, go to start and SHUT DOWN YOUR COMPUTER.
Restart, it should now restart normally.

maybe your Operating System files are getting corrupt.
so what you can do is format the hard drive, and install a fresh copy of a NEw operating system. like windows or the Linux.
your PC will again operate properly !

Sorry, your Operating System has broken, you need to reinstall it, then check your disk to see wheter it is broken too or not. If your disk occurs an error, then you need a new disk.
