the energy of a photon is directly proportional to it's frequency or or inversely proportional to its wavelength. the equation for energy is
E=hf, where E is energy, h is the Planck's constant, and f is the frequency.
thus to increase the energy, you simply have to increase the frequency of the light. and the guy above who was talking about blue shift is technically correct, because running toward the light will increase the frequency of it, but you would have to run really really really fast. (impossibly fast)

If you need to explain to your respondants what a photon is, you don't want their answers!
Actually, there are other waves (photon is a wave with particulate qualities, and vice versa) in the light spectrum, often created by man for scientific and medical purposes, using magnets, radioactive elements, and enormous amounts of electricity, which include x-rays and gamma-rays. They are much higher energy than photons because they can move through objects that photons cannot penetrate.
The speed of photons cannot theoretically be increased, becuase at this point in time, the speed of light is considered the fastest in the universe and thus is used as a constant in mechanics.

Run towards it. Very fast.
(see blue shift)
(you cannot change the energy of a photon any other way than changing your reference frame - it is physically impossible)

hey you can do it. definetely feasible. Photomultiplier tube can be used to directly increase the energy. the other method is to convert into electrical energy using photo-diode or other photo detector & amplify it electrical & again convert it to optical energy. if you could be clear with your application in specific then it'll be good. Nowadays they are implemented using EDFA (Erbium Doped Fiber Amplifier). hope you got the answer for your question.

the type of bulb (incandescent) is merely inefficient, maximum of it extremely is wasted as warmth to make the filament ignite, the reason you spot the sunshine is extremely using fact which you're slowly putting it on hearth, it merely many times would not get that warm if fed from one hundred twenty volts.
