Charles Bourns, chairman of the National Farmers Union's poultry board, said farmers were worried about the potential impact on sales.

He urged shoppers: "Just keep eating chicken and enjoying it. There is no danger from it. This is a disease of chickens and not of humans. Just carry on eating it as per normal."

It's a flu virus that has the ability to cross species. If like me you are concerned about the UK government being able to handle, this outbreak,just go to foot and mouth BSE says it all. Unfortunately.

Must confess that seemed a funny thing to say.

Basicly he said the poultry is diseased so keep eating it .

Thats like saying all the meats have foot and mouth so dont worry keep eating it and if you die you will know what the cause was.

Boums is correct it has been proved that no this cannot be transmitted by eating properly cooked poutry and eggs
