I have a new Dell laptop, and my qs is, should i use the battery until its drained ( 10-20 % left ) or should i leave it constantly on A,C power? the thing is i have friends who say i should do one or the other, so i'm very blurr as to which advise i should take note of.

Your help is very much appreciated, so pls tell me based on ur experience, which should i do to gain optimum life span for my Dell laptop battery?

If you are not using it, then store it in a cool place. But you need to exercise it by discharging it and charging it once every 2 to 3 weeks.

You should really use two methods..

If you plan to use the laptop constantly, remove the battery and then just use A,C power directly. Constantly supplying power to a full battery can be bad for the device.

However if you wish to use the battery yes you should wait for it to go completely dead. Charge a slight full battery ruins it's life span rapidly. This is true for all rechargeable objects. Always let the battery drain.

I believe your friend is completly correct.
