The light rays which are emerging out of the source will comes as a continous diverging rays just imagine you are standing very far from the source some miles apart or consider our own sun.... that continous rays from a long distance which surrounds you seems to be parallel..... this is the thing you have to be imagine rather than solving theoritically.....

actually it does not form parallel rays ,we assume it for convinience
