In the present we in Britain are resentful of the way that Europe interferes in our affairs and produces legislation that we the voters here haven't had chance to vote on. This in 1775 was the cause of the US War of Independence.
In the past we have had no good come of any association with Europeans. Just to mention a few - Julius Caesar, William the Conqueror, Napoleon Bonaparte, Hitler, Mussolini, General de Gaulle and Jacques Chirac. History always repeats itself and it is about time that the British realised this and said goodbye to Europe.

Simple Britain is part of Europe. The Celts and Saxons who were the ancestors of the majority of the UK population came from Europe. English is basically a Germanic language with a lot of early French and Latin derived words in it's vocabulary. And, it is time we woke up to the fact that our future is as part of an integrated Europe not as America's sycophant!

British people do xenophobia by nature. Within Britain we separate ourselves into english, welsh, scottish, irish whatever elseish. Within england we separate ourselves into counties, within the counties into towns then areas then streets then parts of streets the our final act of triumph - cliques. Clubs, groups, teams, all english inventions I should think. That being said, the chance of anyone in england considering themselves european is about one in a zillion trillion. Better if europeans consider themselves to be english, we don't mind it that way round, we find it flatters our egos.
