For those confused.. The kings represent kings from history. I didn't know if the queens did as well

Queens represent the feminine deity aspect of life.
Our cards come from the tarot, an ancient system of divination and each suit represents one of the four elements, air, fire, water, and earth.
The fact that our cards mirror the tarot is why many strict religons forbide the playing of cards.

Spiritually it represents emotional constraint. Symbolically it represents ugly women. When using it in poker, playing with the queen of hearts, knowing it ain't really smart, but the joker ain't the only fool who'll do anything for you. ^_^
