flappers where all about showing skin, especially in the arm area. but i wonder if they shaved to appear more feminine or if they took the more boyish style as flappers did (bobbing of hair, taping of breasts) and leave the hair there.

maybe that's why they were flapping...to reduce the sting!! they didn't have products that were as gentle as they are now.

My Grandmother was a "flapper". She shaved.

Yes -- they didn't want to appear to be men, they wanted to appear to be sexless
