I think we should have the death penalty for very violent crimes, its the most suitable punishment, If you've murdered someone, why should you deserve life?
Another alternative that i like was brought to me by a friend recently, instead of the death penalty violent criminals should be locked into a plain white padded room with no stimulus what so ever, the closest thing they have to company would be food being slid through a hole 3 times a day, other than that they would experience no senses, completely cut off like this would drive most people crazy in a matter of hours, imagine spending the rest of your life or even a few years in that situation, its a good punishment

This is something to be decided on the basis of verifiable and sourced facts. Here are just a few - none of them talks about whether the death penalty is right or wrong in theory-
Re: Alternatives
48 states have life without parole on the books. It means what it says, is swift and sure and is rarely appealed. Being locked in a tiny cell for 23 hours a day, forever, is certainly no picnic.
Re: cost
The death penalty costs far more than life in prison. The huge extra costs start to mount up even before the trial.
Re: Possibility of executing an innocent person
Over 120 people on death rows have been released with evidence of their innocence. If we speed up the process we are bound to execute an innocent person.
Re: DNA
DNA is available in no more than 10% of murder cases. It is not a miracle cure for sentencing innocent people to death. It’s human nature to make mistakes.
Re: Deterrence
The death penalty isn’t a deterrent. Murder rates are actually higher in states with the death penalty than in states without it. Moreover, people who kill or commit other serious crimes do not think they will be caught (if they think at all.)
Re: Who gets the death penalty
The death penalty isn’t reserved for the “worst of the worst,” but rather for defendants with the worst lawyers. When is the last time a wealthy person was sentenced to death, let alone executed??
Re: Victims families
The death penalty is very hard on victims’ families. They must relive their ordeal in the courts and the media. Life without parole is sure, swift and rarely appealed. Some victims families who support the death penalty in principal prefer life without parole because of how the death penalty affects families like theirs.
Opposing the death penalty doesn’t mean you condone brutal crimes or excuse people who commit them. We should make up our minds using common sense based on solid facts, not revenge.

I oppose the shortcoming of existence penalty in all situations devoid of exception a million. it truly is a contravention of two human rights articles 3 and 5 the right to existence, and the right now to not be tortured or difficulty to any cruel, inhuman or degrading punishment 2. it truly is cruel, degrading, and irreversible action 3. it truly is larger to incarcerate someone for a lengthy time period because it is going to enable them time to repent and evaluate their moves, they ought to stay with their guilt. ANd should you say a watch for a watch, it truly is stupid ever heard Mahatma Gandhi's quote "a watch for a watch makes the finished international blind"

the death penalty shouldnt be used, i think a better punishment would be turn a criminal's tongue on fire and then to spank them 1000 times with burning bamboo sticks, and then to starve him for a few days without water in a cell with rats and roaches. This should happen to sexual predators and to people that have commited serious crimes.
keeping someone alive and torturing them is better than killing them

The person is a murderer or a child molester or anything of that level.
I wouldn't see it fit for a drug dealer or a theif.

Sexual predators and people who kill other in cold blood.
And we should use a firing squad.
It only cost 50 cents for a bullet.
