Can anyone tell me the name of the seal that is going extinct its vary furry as a baby,there adorable?

One of the species is monachus monachus, it lives in the mediterranean, it is endangered - protected in Greece by law-, but I don't know if this is what you mean(the society working for their preservation is www.mom.gr). There are those lovely seals in the poles too, by the way do you know that Canada allows a merciless seal hunt each year around this time, when they kill these furry babies?
