right 0.6Kg is 600grams the big K is the sign for kilo meaning one thousand and the little g means grams so 1000/0.6 = 600g
this is now the easy bit 5% of 600 is one 20th of 600 so thats about 30g as were dealing with grams(little g)

Since the prefix 'kilo' means 1000, there are 1000 grams on one kilogram. As you start with 0.6 Kg, this is 0.6x1000=600 grams.
As the term 'per cent' (i.e. '%') literally means 'for one hundred', 5% of 600 grams = 5/100x600 = 30 grams.

It doesn't matter too much in which order you do this in but if we first convert to grams we get 0.6 x 1000 = 600g. one percent of this would give us 6g (divide by 100). So 5% would be 5 times this amount which is 30g.

Since a kilogram is 1000 grams, wouldn't it be 1000 * .6 * .05 or 600 * .05?
