On the Last Will & Testament of my 3xgreat-grandfather dated 1808 he had, along with land and property,£3500.
How much is that in todays money?
The money was obviously left to his children etc, but, unfortunately,my great-grandmother ended up losing the lot to a dodgy solicitor...THE SWINE!!
Anyway,as much as it will probably 'torture' me,it would still be interesting to know just how much my folk were actually worth all those years ago?

According to the website I used £3500 in year 1800 would be worth £204,970-37 today.
To put it another way £3500 today was equivalent to £59-76 in year 1800.
A hell of a lot of money in those days. And yes what an unscrupulous solicitor! My condolences to you.

I calculated it from average wages - approx £24000 pa today and from what I can find, around £35 per year in 1800. Factoring up £3500 by that difference, I get an answer of £2.4M at todays money.
