Hi!
You haven't specified whether you want to teach children or adults - my experience is of teaching adults only so if it's children you want to work with, please contact the Teacher Training Agency (if you google it, the home page will come up).
To teach adults (post 16) in the UK, you need a teaching qulification such as Cert Ed or PGCE (post graduate certificate in Education). Most universities and colleges run these courses. On top of the generic teaching qualification, you will also need to proove that you have enough knowledge of your subject matter, e.g. you studied it at university or you have been teaching it for ages etc. So, for example, if an experienced architect wants to become an architecture teacher, s/he will have to gain a generic teaching qualification to top up their knowledge of the subject matter. Please observe that these qualifications will only be required by the law from September 2010. At the moment, some organisations will take on teachers who meet only of the two criteria (i.e. generic teaching qualification with no subject specialism or extensive subject specialism with no teaching qualification) if they commit themselves to achieving one within two years.
Hope it helps and good luck!

You don't say where you are from but I assume it's China. I know the Chinese government is organising teachers for foreign countries. You could check out the scheme but you need a degree and to pass the exam to prove you can speak Putongwa correctly. I can't remember the name of the certificate but I'm sure you could find out. My wife tried to pass it but missed the final exam
The government scheme doesn't pay as much as doing privately but they will organise your visa and job for you

YOU did not state at what grade level. grammar, jr high, high school, community college, college or graduate school. Each has its own rules and policies. in my opinion, we should not learn Chinese as it is FROM a Communist nation. plz DO label me insensitive. I even use to write and edit English materials for a Chinese man in CHina but I did it for him. I wish all the Chinese would do what Ghandi suggested 40 yrs ago; have an entire national strike! happy new year!
