The question basically comes down to "Do you believe in the death penalty?"

Those would kill Saddam would say the following: For all of the "good" Saddam may have done, he has the blood of thousands on his hands. You could make a convincing argument that his crime is much worse than a thief, bandit, etc. If anyone deserves the death penalty, it's Saddam, Hitler, etc..

Those against killing Saddam would say the following: If you kill Saddam, you are morally lowering yourself to his standards. You are justifying killing by killing.

There is not necessarily a right or wrong answer. It merely depends on your own personal philosophies. However, something had to be done with him, and I for one am not going to lose a lot of sleep over his execution. Where we go from here is much more important.

Honestly umm yea. He is responsible for the mass murder of many, many people. That is more than a mistake it's a decision. Maybe he shouldn't have been "hanged" that is a very cruel punishment. He should have been in jail for life or if necessary drugged. It was up to the Iraqi courts, his own countrymen.

Nansayev, are you referring to Saddam Hussein or George W Bush?

And no I dont think he was a great leader. NO leader who rules through fear and intimidation is "great". He let his people starve under UN sanctions rather than embrace the world and become part of international commerce, preferring conquest of his neighbors over responsible state leadership. He was responsible for illegals arrests, torture, executions of radical elements and their families, he suppressed Free Speech, Free PRess is STILL ajoke in Iraq and he openly mocked Dmeocratic countries around the world, with his pointless "100% Saddam" elections. And you know what? He never attacked the US and he never helped Al Qaeda or Osama bin Laden. He REFUSED to allow Al Qaeda into Iraq to train or hide. Why was Bush so eager to remove such a potential ally against Osama?

Still, the ONLY country which wanted to invade Iraq was the US... why is that? We know they didnt have nukes, we know they had nothing to do with Sept 11, so WHY?

He was found guilty for crimes against humanity.

He gave commands to mass murder whole families, many people.

He also dictated people how they should live their lives.

Whoever thinks that is a great person needs to be hung themselves.

But I personally believe the USA should have left Iraq alone. The result shows that some cultures need such people to keep them at bay.

Why should you or anyone else feel guilty ?

Do anyone of our opinion matters in Foreign affairs between the leaderships of countries ?

Didn't the Iraqi people themselves come out in drools to entertain themselves with Saddam's hanging ?

Are you one of those who downloaded it from an Internet sight, and now can't stomach it ?

No.....great leader or not....a murderer is a murderer....

kyo san,

Saddam Hussein was found guilty of numerous grave charges in an Iraqi court, presided by an Iraqi judge, and senteced to death by hanging as per Iraqi custom.

You may have truly liked the guy, but seems to me the Iraqi were not too fond of him. He was executed per their customs. That they now have the freedom to do this is a good thing.

Well going with the statement a murderer is a murderer, Bush should have been swinging on the end of that rope as well. He has sent thousands into get murdered. Even after he was told it looked to grim, he sent more. He lied to get the war started in the first place so that is premeditation.......... should he not be held for his actions as well?

Hanging is also a good sentence for a murderer. He committed crimes against humanity, not saying that he is the only one, but when hundreds of thousands of people are killed under his regime, he got what was coming to him...

The method of execution is inconsequential. Whatever "good" he did was vastly overshadowed by his atrocities. He deserved to be executed and I believe he got off easy considering he used to have his enemies tortured brutally before they were hanged.
