Does anyone know when the short story "The Birds" was written?

I've searched every where online and I can't find anything that says when the short story was written

"The Birds and Other Short Stories" was first published in 1952. I was suprised at the late date, coz I always thought it was earlier.

I can't find out the year, but it was written by Daphne Du Maurier. Most of her work was written before the 1960's, I think. The Scapegoat was written in 1957 but she'd written most of her works before that. She died in 1989.
It was made into a movie in 1939 and as far as I know, Daphne started writing in 1928.
