The name Bluetooth is derived from the cognomen of a 10th century king, Harald Bluetooth King of Denmark and Norway from 935 and 936 respectively, to 940. He is known for his unification of previously warring tribes from Denmark (including Scania, present-day Sweden, where the Bluetooth technology was invented) and Norway.

Hope this helps, Peace.

Blutooth was devloped by Ericsson laboratories.
When they developed it, they were confused of giving it a name which means its function.
Function: Combine different devices to stand under one function and act for a single cause.(That's to connect to different devices and do function with them for a particular need)

So they planned to name the device after "Harald Bluetooth Gormson" a Danish King who was known to Unite Denmark.
He United Denmark by joining all the small-small kingdoms in Denmark under his rule.
"Bluetooth" now more commonly refers to the Bluetooth wireless specification designed to enable cable-free connections between computers, mobile phones, PDAs, printers and other electronic equipment. The Bluetooth logo consists of the Nordic runes for its initials, H and B.(Harald Bluetooth).
