So we can forget everything except studies

Three steps that I always recommend
1. The First Reading :- Read the given chapter as if you were reading a novel. Complete the reading, not to worry about the quantity or Quality of that you have understood or would be able to reproduce.
2. The Second reading :- There should be a gap of at least an hour at the minimum ( maximum for regular study should not exceed 24 hours) before you pick up the chapter for second reading. This time you have a pencil, in case you are averse to underlining sentences in the book a note book will be needed, as you read you make note of the key words or important points as you read the chapter. It should be a slow reading, trying to understand and the points that don't make sence to be marked for clarification by the teacher.
3. Third Reading :- This is a serious business. Before you start on it you should have all the doubts clarified. Make notes of the key points as you keep reading and check whether you can connect the points logically. Once you finish the third reading you are ready for a self assessment. Again give a gap of at least an hour before you test yourself.

Though it sounds tedious, to some it does sound easy as well, it does require some self discipline - specially regularity has to be maintained or it does not work out.

To kill the boredom if there is any you could have some music playing softly as you read / study. It is not a distraction but you will be surprised that after a while you will not be listening to the music at all. Your level of concentration is directly propotionate to the interest you are able to develop in the subject matter under study. Music may help you develop that interest by keeping a check on your boredom.

Give it a honest try. It should work. Since the details are not there as to what level of study ? For what purpose ? What is the time factor involved ? Etc., I could not go into details of planning the study.
One last thing any time that you feel like studying is the best time.
I would recommend either late evening or early morning when the disturbance factor is at its minimum.
Best Wishes.

If you can, do the studying in the mornings, that's when your mind is the most alert and capable of retaining information. Turn off the phone, don't have anybody come over - make it a rule and let everyone know about it.
Don't study on a full stomach but don't be hungry either.
Always try and do the studying in the same place, either bed or at the desk. Make it a routine.
Finally, you're the one who can find the best way to study yourself, whenever you realize it's working for you, keep doing it.
Good luck.

Dear Friend : Control of Prana is a recommended practice since Prana is the vehicle of mind. However, mind is the owner of the vehicle. Concentration is restraining the mind into smaller and smaller limits. There are eight processes for thus restraining the mind. The first is Yama, controlling the mind by avoiding externals. All morality is included in this. Beget no evil. Injure no living creature. If you injure nothing for twelve years, then even lions and tigers will go down before you. Practise truthfulness. Twelve years of absolute truthfulness in thought, word, and deed gives a man what he wills. Be chaste in thought, word, and action. Chastity is the basis of all religions. Personal purity is imperative. Next is Niyama, not allowing the mind to wander in any direction. Then Asana, posture. There are eighty-four postures: but the best is that most natural to each one; that is, which can be kept longest with the greatest ease. After this comes Pranayama, restraint of breath. Then Pratyaharara, drawing in of the organs from their objects. Then Dharana, CONCENTRATION. Then Dhyana, contemplation or MEDITATION. (This is the essence of the Yoga system. ) And last, Samadhi, superconsciousness. The purer the body and mind, the quicker the desired result will be obtained. You must be perfectly pure. Do not think of evil things, such thoughts will surely drag you down. If you are perfectly pure and practice faithfully, your mind can finally be made a searchlight of infinite power. There is no limit to its scope. But there must be constant practice and non-attachment to the world. When a man reaches the superconscious state, all feeling of body melts away. Then alone does he become free and immortal. To all external appearance, unconsciousness and superconsciousness are the same; but they differ as a lump of clay from a lump of gold. The one whose whole soul is given up to God has reached the superconscious plane. Without attaining perfection in Yam-Niyams, Aasanas and Pranayams, Meditation should not be and need not be practised. Meditation is a by-product of cessation of mental activities (Chit Vrittis) and it has to be happened on its own without any compulsion. Yam-Niyam and Aasanas are more than enough for a worldly being. For detailed and genuine information, kindly read Yog Vasishth and Patanjai Yog Sutra.

Never try! You'll kill yourself! Easy,Relax,Enjoy. Just love what you're doing and don't think that you're doing it 'cause it's needed. Most of all ask for the guidance of GOD.
