Although getting PCI card might help, mentioning that you have USB1.1 shows that you have a system that's obsolete, since USB2.0 has been around for several years already. So, if the computer speed is fine with you, and you just want to solve this problem quick, get the PCI USB card. However, you might find yourself needing to get other cards for your computer, such as firewire or SATAII. If you got no big problems with finances, I'd suggest upgrading everything and simply buying a new computer. Or buy a used one, which hasn't been around for too long. With the Core 2 Duo processors, which came out in mid summer last year, you'll see many people upgrading, and therefore selling off their Pentium 4's or Athlons 64, even though they bought it like 2-3 years back, and the motherboards in those computers already support USB2.0. A decent used computer would cost you around $300, have more processing power and have most of the new technologies available. So, have fun.

You can try to run the windows update if your hardware is usb 2.0 compatible it should download the correct drivers. If your hardware is not 2.0 compatible you will need to replace the motherboard or buy a 2.0 PC Card. Below is a link to where you can purchase a PCI 2.0 card. It just plugs into an empty pci slot real easy to use.

If it is a desktop you need a PCI USB 2.O card installed.
Any of these will do .... real cheap :

If is is a laptop you will need a PCMCIA USB 2.0 adapter.
(more expensive ... some also include a firewire port as well) :

Verify the PCMCIA slot version of your laptop & make sure is corresponds with the adapter you want.
