DO NOT move to Alief. We just moved out a few months ago. It has gone all ghetto and it is full of gangs and drugs. My husband used to run with the Volunteer Fire Department and made more calls that had to do with gang violence than he did when he ran in the bad areas of Waco. Plus, the schools in Alief ISD are not safe. There are just too many gangs, because you see, each apartment complex has formed gangs within gangs. These gangs have even began to enter the elementary schools.
I would suggest that you move to an area that is in Katy ISD. There are many nice communities and it is a great school district that does more than just teach the kids how to pass the TAKS test. http://www.katyisd.org
Good luck finding a great place to live.

From everything that has been said by everyone, obviously, Alief, is not the place to live or raise children. Before you move to any division, town or certain area of a large city, contact the police department and ask to speak to the sgt. on that shift. Ask him or her if they can email you the crime stats for a certain area because you are looking at that area to move into. Generally you will find that most police departments are very community friendly and are helpful. My boyfriend is a Sgt. for Dallas and he gets these types of calls all the time. The Dallas Police Department and several other deparments in suburbs around Dallas will email you crime stats and let you make up your mind from actual reports. They cannot answer questions about cases that are ongoing but general type things can be answered. Hope this helps.

Alief is awful. I'm in that school district and it used to be ok in the early 90's but now its pretty bad. I'm a junior now and I'm so glad to be getting out of this awful district. All the schools are really ghetto...the best place I can think of there is Kerr High School...it kind of sucks too but at least the people are polite.

NO Alief !!! Look to West University and Bellaire. Both have very nice neighborhoods and their own police departments. Bellaire High School rivals the best private schools in Houston. Over 20 national merit scholars each year. These are inner loop locations, and prices can be steep. But just shop around. Out of the loop is Cypress Fairbanks and Klein.... both have very good schools.

Depending where your job is going to be located or is located will depend on where you want to start looking.
Find a good realitor in Houston and let them help you. Be careful not to get anyone who is pushy or only cares to make a buck!
Some nice areas are Clearlake, The Woodlands, Spring, Tomball, Deer Park, Katy, Kingwood, Memorial, West University, etc...
The thing is that, these places are in nice areas (Magnolia, Tx (by Tomball)but you need to make sure that you pick a neighborhood that is nice as well and not run down or known for problems (Decker Hills sub). Just because the general area is nice doesn't mean that everything in area is nice!
Get someone to help you.
Also make sure that where ever you chose the school where your child will go is a good one, don't only check the school district. Example; Klein ISD. is a great school district but there are a few schools in that district that are a little rough (klein forest) and not at all like the others, which are Great!!!
Also be sure that where ever you chose the route to work is not always congested (I-10 katy freeway) and also different quick routes are around. 45, 59, belt 8, hardy toll rd, 249, etc...
P.S. S.W. Houston is on the news everyday for some kind of crime, "Nice" neighborhoods and Bad ones alike! Don't go anywhere around S.W. Houston!!! Yes, 25yrs ago it was a Nice area but it will get you killed today! Not Joking! Not Worth it! Too many other places to live in Houston to chance moving anywhere in that area!!!
I hope this helped and good luck.
I only know 2 realitors that I would suggest, Not pushy and very knowledgeable of different areas. Even if your just looking to rent they are still happy to help and know of LOTS of rental properties!!
Bonnie Griffin- 713-320-7410- Woodlands/ North side area (maybe others?)
Mark Benoit- 281-998-4998- Clearlake, Deer Park/ South side areas (maybe others as well?)
Good Luck!

Alief is mostly gangbangers of all backgrounds now.
It was a nice area back in the 70s, but the oil crunch hurt this community. A lot of houses foreclosed and were resold to landlords who rented them out to the "lowest common denominator" of society. I have friends who went to Alief Elsik AND Hastings back when they were good high schools. Now they're dangerous.
Run away from Alief!
On the other hand, five miles north is Memorial. Nice area if you can afford it.

If you can afford it, live in the suburbs of Houston. Kingwood, Cypress, Katy, The Woodlands are all fantastic places to raise kids and it is really safe with great schools. However, it is much pricier to live. As everyone said, stay as far away from Alief as possible. I live on the east side of town (Pasadena) and once we're ready to have kids, we're moving to the west side.

Do NOT, under any circumstances, move to Alief. Long ago, this was a nice place to live. Now it is AWFUL.

i'd say the single that may spend extra time with him. Even an 11yr previous should be with a figure. So if the dad has late artwork hours then he may no longer be the perfect human being. or If the mum works plenty or maybe on weekends then that could positioned her out of the image too. i'd say which ever figure will be there after college and on weekends may be the perfect. starting to be up my dad develop right into a workaholic. He worked from round 5am till eventually 7pm at evening. Plus on weekends and certain even went to artwork on Christmas morning. (unhappy yet authentic). So if my dad and mom chop up even as i develop into youthful dad does no longer be the single for us.
