Ambivilence..
They just dont care.
If it doesnt affect them why worry. They dont realise that everything has a trickle down effect. It will get to them sooner or later.
I also notice that these same persons are the ones that are the most vocal about the state of affairs in the country..

I think that it is mainly a big problem with procrastination, apathy about what is going on, or that people feel that what they say does not matter.

That is how I used to be during the first couple of years that I was old enough to vote. I started out not caring about what is going on with politics or anything like that. To me it was all just a bunch of stuff that was for grown ups.

Then it got to the point that I really felt like no matter what I chose, I was not going to get what I wanted out of a President anyhow. So I just didn't vote.

After I realized a lot of things and found out that it does matter who is in whatever office, I hadn't gotten myself in the habit of voting and so I would just put it off and put it off. I would put it off until it was too late to vote. Now I try to make it down to vote on the first day that voting opens.

Another thing that I think causes people is the lack of knowledge people have on the subject. Like I said, there was a time when I really thought that what I had to say didn't matter. Well, it does matter.

I think these are the people who doesn't care about their rights and obligation to vote. Maybe they are just thinking that it is just a waste of time and effort without thinking that the future of their country is in their hands. They don't seem to see the consequences of having a bad leader to lead the country. I am not really from United States but our country, the Philippines also experience that problem.

For as many different reasons as there are voters. Some don't care or can't be bothered. Others think it's a form of protest, still others aren't informed enough on the issues or the process to decide & prefer to leave it to others. Finally, there are those that believe that no matter who they vote for, it won't count anyway.

The Americans who don't vote,I feel, are the Americans who
don't know much about the process of voting,or how important voting is in the history of our country.

Or maybe there lazy.

IT TAKES SOME EFFORT AND KNOWLEDGE TO VOTE PROPERLY.

They want to avoid jury duty. They're tired of "the lesser of two evils" bullshit. They live in Florida.
