Bodies made of different material have a different weight or mass per volumetric unit. That is called density. So a cubic meter of wood has a different mass of a cubic meter of steell, for instance. Same for gasses and liquids.

It they are made of different stuff that has different density.
Just think of a pool ball and a styrofoam ball the same size. The styrofoam ball is much lighter because it is made of porous material filled with a gas (air).
