Within the next decade China will have the biggest economy, four times as many people as America, and a similar insular approach to world politics\foreign policy. How will America cope with losing its status?

You're on crack cocaine.

In the next decade China will not even catch up to Japan. If China continues to grow very rapidly year-in year-out for decades (not likely), China MIGHT catch up to the US by about 2050 in aggregate economic size, though certainly not any other measure of economic status.

However it's equally likely China will falter as its become demographically too old, and never catch up to the US at all. In 2060 pundits might be debating how long the US will continue widening it's gap over China.

thats the cycle of empire, The FAX AMERICANA is closing its final curtain and the US has won its Final War, the WOrld War II theater. What follows are but vagueness and bitter failures(emphasizing on vietnam, korean, and curr. Mid east crisis)

While the US has consuming all its Supremacy on extending its military and economy, politics across the globe, it is becoming a thin red line and China is just waiting, lurking and building some momentum to inherit the once title "SUPER POWER"

China would be the world's SP, and no doubt about the resources it have, it has over a million times far greater army reserves compare to US, and Stealth technology being smuggled out the block market (b2,b3 bombers) Nuclear Arnaments, Leftist allies, Hugo Chavez of venezuela, Oil Embargo on the Latin America and Africa and IRAN.

How about the Idea that the US itself is corrupted by self-interest leaders and maverick organizations? US itself is destroyed from within, if this would not be prevented and cured, it will end up like the USSR, new york will be a free soveriegn state and other states will be new free nations.

This is my opinion based on some facts and observation
critic is welcome!

I live i China so i guess i can answer this...the investors will start coming to China instead of remaining in America, you will see Ford, Toyota, Nike and many other companies try to tap into the Chinese market. Not only will that become an extreme trend, but you also have to remember that labor in China is CHEAP. Companies will start moving their HQs to China, opening more shops/retail stores. China will become the developing power that US was in the 70s. Lastly, it's true that China is a power hungry giant. Therefore, all types of energy companies will be craving for China's support and contract. Also remember...just recently, China's government oil department has invested 3.4 billion dollars in biofuels...=D

The world economy will be dominated by China, with most foreign currencies being pegged to the Chinese renminbi much like how they're pegged to the US dollar at the moment. Chinese will become the Linga Franca of the world and even more people will want to get a piece of Chinese culture and learn about the country's history and sample the cuisine. There'll still be a minority of people in the west stubbornly holding onto 'we are still better than you' attitudes and refusing to face the facts. I live in Britain and there's a fair number of people who still think this way and they look down on Chinese people like me, they dislike us because we're overtaking their children in school and university and generally earn more than they do. I don't want to sound elitist or anything though, and believe that we Chinese achieve what we do by competitiveness and hard work.

You will find out that the British and then the Americans were not really that bad after all. China is still a very dangerous communist state with a definate lack of compassion. How western companies forget this when they can make a buck (pound or euro or whatever).

Note that that I refer to the state of china and not the great chinese people.

They will start a war of expansion to support their economic system, just like America did.

THIS WILL NEVER HAPPEN. MORE NUMBER OF PEOPLE DOES NOT NECESSARILY MEAN STRONGER ECONOMY. NOT SO LONG IN FUTURE CHINA WILL FIND IT VERY DIFFICULT TO DUMP THEIR PRODUCTS IN WORLD ECONOMY AS MAN HOUR COSTS INCREASE DISPROPORTIONATELY WITH BOOMING ECONOMY AND A TIME WILL COME WHEN THEY REALIZE IT. IT SHOULD ALSO BE REMEMBERED INSULAR APPROACH BROKE USSR. ALSO SOCIAL FACTORS LIKE CORRUPTION, LACK OF FREEDOM ETC. WOULD TAKE A HEAVY TOLL ON THEIR ECONOMY- DO NOT FORGET TIANAMAN SQUARE.
