Malysia is a land of opportunities, maybe a little like the US were 50 years back so almost any business is good - but especially in the food & beverage (not necessarily alcoholic though) there are still lots of 'vacancies'... it depends in what line you are as others mention, and yes, you will need a Malaysian citizen as your busines partner (can be Chinese, Malay, or any other ethnic group, as long as the person has citizenship). You yourself might initially find it a bit troublesome to get all the papers that allow you to work here, but setting up a company (Sendirian Berhad [Sdn Bhd] - like Ltd.) is comparatively cheap, fast and hassle free, really!

You can get all information for setting up a business in Malaysia through the Malaysian Industrial Development Authority (MIDA). They can advice you from what sector to get into, how much it will cost, guide to registering a business, Malaysian tax, etc.

AS A PROPERTY DEVELOPER. I WOULD SAY IT WOULD BE GOOD FOR YOU TO INVEST IN PROPERTIES OR RELATED BUSINESS. REASON BEING THAT PROPERTIES ARE FOREVER JUST AS MUCH AS PEOPLE SAY DIAMOND IS FOREVER. TQ
