3M puts out a kit you can purchase for shrinkwrapping windows. I think it's called a weather proofing kitt. Measure your windows. Clean the window sills with soap and water and then alcohol. Apply the double sided tape from the kit. Apply the plastic and then use a hairdyer to shrink the plastic. The kit has much more specific instructions. Just read them first. Have fun.

I just did this at my house! I got the kit at Home Depot and it was awful, the sheets were all too small!!! So I brought all 6 kits back and went to Wal-Mart where they sell a kit that has enough plastic for 9 windows. Awesome.

First, clean your window frames. Wait for them to dry. Then you want to do a test run. Make sure your plastic film is big enough for your entire window. The kits come in small sizes (generally big enough for a standard bedroom window) and large sizes (big enough for a picture window or a patio door). Don't try to tape two peices together.

Next, put the tape all around your window but do NOT take the backing off. So the tape is stuck to the window but the side facing out still has the backing on it. Start at a top corner and take a little backing off the tape. Attach the clear plastic film. Slowly peel more backing and attach more film. If you have too much sticky tape showing at once you risk getting the film on it in a bad place and making a mess! Work slow and do a small area at a time. Pull the film taunt, but not too tight.

Once the entire window is all taped up, take out your hair dryer and lightly heat the film going over the entire surface in even strokes. The film will shrink and you'll be all done and draft-free!

Get a window shrink wrapping kit. Stick the 2 sided tape on then use a hairdryer to shrink it.

Plastic film window insulation? Don't use cling film. Use a special film secured with double sided tape. Then use an hair dryer to shrink the film and make it tight

you can buy the kind with tape that you just stick to the inside of the window. or you can buy clear plastic and duct tape and save some money. if you have curtains noone will know the difference.
