the break light on my car keeps coming on but it does not stay on. It only turns on once I go over 40mph. We check the break fluid and it was full. What could be wrong? Could the fact that we are in the middle of a deep freeze and I park outside have something to do with it?

maybe you should check the brakes

Your parking/emergency brake also activates this light, it might not be releasing all the way, happens when it gets cold. Try and lubricate the cable from underneath, maybe the return spring is weak or broken.

here are a few things it can mean:

1) break fluid low (tho already ruled out)
2) air in break lines or not proper pressure
3) SRS not functioning properly (airbags) (only in older cars that dont have an SRS warning light)
4) you emergency break is pulled slightly
5) your break pads are low
6) a break light is out (not likely since it doesn't happen all the time)

I sounds though its in the wiring to me. I use to have a 69 Firebird, every time I went over a bump the one brake light would go out. It was in the wiring. Good luck with it.

try and see if it may be the sensor going bad.
