If you heard the coolant flushing into the heater core that means there is air in the system and that is not a good thing. If it stopped quickly no so bad... but if it happens each time the heater is turned on or continues for a longer time that is bad.

My best guess would be that the heater core box drain is plugged and there is water trapped in there. Most boxes have a drain so when the A/C is run, any condensation can drain out. This is not so major and only requirest that you find and unplug that drain..It should be located very low on the engine side of the firewall toward the passenger side... usually a rubber hose about 2 inches long and shriveled up to keep stuff from going up the tube. just massage it or slide a pipe cleaner up it.

I have a 2000 Silverado and have heard this noise since I've owned the truck - Have had it about 5 years - Never over heats, doesnt leak, and heater works perfect. I would say - this must be normal...

shouldnt hear water sloshing.may be a leak in the truck and the water you hear is running in a body channel or in the heater. the winshield on my chevy was leaking an after a good rain water ran all over the floor when i made a hard turn. it had sloshing sounds too. i resealed the windshield and fixed it. so no its not norma and doesnt make sense

please when thinking off buying a vehicle always take it to your mechanic for an inspection. for a 1/2 hour or so you will know what is wrong now and soon to be. hidden faults can cost more than the inspection. if the seller won't let you go, run don't walk away

Order an independent LOCAL (!) inspection before you buy - especially a gm or suchlike.
