Why does west beach get too much rain than east beach?

In the northern hemisphere, weather systems travel from west to east. As a mass of air travels over water it absorbs moisture. As it hits land it tends to rise and this may cause rain. Points further east receive less rain because the air mass has been drying out as it traveled over land.
