Vote for who you think is best for the job of President. Don't vote simply because someone is female or black.

First off I agree with most of your answers don't vote based on color or sex vote on what they say. Next we need someone who actually knows how to govern, not a senator, they don't know how to govern they just know how to argue. The best Presidents have been Governors first. Even Clinton who, I feel, was mediocre at best was better than most senators could have been. Condi Rice is an intelligent woman who at some point might make a good President but here again she does not have experience governing. The race for President will be interesting this time around because we will not have an incumbent running and we will not have a vice-president running. This will be a chance for us to get a fresh approach to our national problems. We will need to pay close attention to what these people say and vote for the one who most closely matches what we believe.

I do agree that it would make a positive statement to elect a black or a woman as president, but that's not a reason for voting for someone.
If people vote based on race and ethnicity, then it's not much of a compliment or a positive development for someone to be elected even partially on that basis.
A REAL breakthrough will be achieved when someone is elected because they are the best candidate, and they happen to be a woman or black.
Stay tuned - 2008 may be the year!

Well, the first vote is the primaries. That's when you'll have your trouble. I haven';t decided, either. There will be several good people this time around.
Since you like them both (and odds are one of them will win the primaries) you won't have a problem deciding in November, since only one will be on it.
My state's primary is not at the beginning of next year (luckily), so I'll have some time to see what the rest of the country is saying. The choice is definitely hard.

I have to agree with the others here. You shouldn't vote for anyone because of race or gender. I wish I knew where Obama stood on the important issues. Like the Real ID.....New World Order...the V-Chip. I haven't heard Hillary say how she feels about these things either...but since she is married to Bill....will what he believes in influence her? That's scary. I'm sure there will be some sort of 3rd party on the ballot...I will vote for them...for all the good it will so.
Sometimes it helps to know where candidates stand on the issues. Sometimes it doesn't matter...they can always change their mind after they get you convinced to vote for them. They ALL become liars and cowards.

I agree, but we shouldn't have a black man or white woman win, just for the sake of having a black man or woman win. I'm going to vote for the best candidate regardless of race or sex. I am not really interested in having the highest position in the country decided by affirmative action.

It is rather silly to vote on the basis of race or gender. Obama seems like a good guy, but he has no experience and no ideas. Apart from the low voice, he's a real political lightweight. Clinton's okay but there is something slimy about her. Condeleeza Rice has probably been one of the most ineffectual secretaries of state in US history. Why on earth would you want to vote for her?

I think that voting for a person because they are black or a woman is rather silly. I would hope that people could see beyond gender and the simple color of someones skin.
If you were to phrase your question like this i think it makes a point. Gee, should i vote for hillary because she is white or Obama because he is a man. sounds kinda iffy if you ask me.
Listen to what they say, and vote for them on the content of their character, not by some superficial reason.

None of the three you mentioned have done anything to distinguish themselves to be President of the United States.
Two are professional politicians who have accomplished little except manage to get elected. The other is an educator who was pressed into government service.
None of them have displayed extraordinary leadership abilities.
The Democrtas have Bill Richardson a hispanic who has displayed all of these qualities. And the Republicans have many potential candidiates, none of whom chose to declare themselves so far.

What a great Idea lets take affirmative action to the white house, infact let PETA get involved and maybe we can have a gerbil or goldfish run for president too, its only the fair thing to so since no black people or females have been qualified oops I mean won have won the presidency infact lets just elect a black female gerbil.
