Depends where and how you live I suppose. I can imagine that life is worse than death for those poor starving people in Africa, or the poor buggers who get the Tube to work in a miserable spirit-crushing office job all day, then come home to crappy flats in rubbish places (like Essex) with souless partners who they only went out with in the first place coz they couldn't get anyone any better!! Mind you, I'm a post-grad student in Manchester with a gorgeous boyfriend and only a slightly rubbish house, I'm quite glad to be alive. Ask me again in a year or so and I might say something different!!

You know what...? Life is great.
And according to what I have been learning, one 'dies' because the body is not good anymore for the spirit - the person itself - to go on performing life. There must be something wrong in the process of life otherwise we wouldn't fight back the ageing process. This is something one is not agreeing to.
Somebody said: 'Either you make life or it will make yours.'
This means you can decide what kind of life you want to live. And if you consider it a good one, then it will be a good one for you.
A problem is a test that God puts onto your way so He sees if you are really capable. Or in another way, a more philosophic one: A problem is a counter intention against your intention and the strongest intention wins, so you solve the problem or you get stuck on it. -- Intention: a positive atitude of doing something, not the desire.
On the other hand I have to say that if you have a problem and you do something about it although what you do is not The Solution, and the problem seems to have desappeared... Later, somewhere in Time, the problem will come back. That's why we keep having the 'same' problen again and again.
And because of the problems we have through Life and according to our own definition of 'problems', we evaluate our life as a good one or something other.
So, answering your question, Life is Great. And Death is just the end of the material part of it because as Souls, we are imortal. That's why Christians say that 'in the judgement day...' That's why some spiritualists talk about re-incarnation although this is the wrong way to put it because one doesn't get back to find 'carne' - flesh - a body, ready to be taken - it should be called rebirth. That's why Buddists talk about the 'Karma' from previous life, etc.
The subjects that we call Science are processes and they modify themselves according to what is going on being discovered, this way they are not trust worthy. A true Science would be something that would be true ages ago, now and in the future.
Life is a fate in the sense that one doesn't do anything about it...
A fate worse than Death... only if one is under the condition of a Human, like those drug addicts who may be seen in the streets begging, this is a terrible condition, they are not humans anymore, they cannot choose anymore, they are the scumb... for them, I believe, Life is a fate and worse than Death.
If you are a regular person, a normal one - and again this is a controversy because the average man is under the Normal Human Condition - you have the chance to create a good life for yourself. Just get your goals, discipline, responsability and the toughest part of it, the doing, going on, and you'll have your good life.
Normal Human Condition: Man was created to succeed, that's why we learn how to walk, otherwise we still would still be crawling ... And there is NOTHING that a human being cannot learn.

Let me try to decipher this.
life is being presently alive in an existence that had a birth or a beginning. Fate is an end and death is the end to life.
For most people death is worse than life. But to a person without hope, life is worse than death.
For me the answer is no. death is a worse fate than life.

Hi silkie 1
It is a strange fact of life, that some people are born with the most horrific disabilities, and yet have the most tremendous zest for life. Their worse fate is often the thought of death, they fight it
Then there are others who have all the privileges, health and wealth and yet are so unhappy. They almost destroy themselves and court death.
Now if a person suffers from depression, life may seem like a fate worse than death. We have come so far in treating many problems , but treatment of depression seems so hit and miss, and that person goes on with the terrible struggle of trying to be positive.
Life is beautiful and yet we have to take on board the terrible plight of others on our planet.
Where life leads us is a bit of a lottery, in terms of what we are given to cope with, and indeed how we are going to deal with it.
If you are going through a period in your life where you feel it is a fate worse than death, it doesn't mean it will always be that way.
Death, who knows, there's too much to be taken on trust for my liking!
So, I can only answer for myself, and say, no, life isn't a fate worse than death.
And those are my wishes for everyone...

I don't know because no-one has ever come back from the dead and told us what if anything happens at or after death. (Yes I know Jesus was supposed to have done it but if he was the Son of God it still doesn't apply to all of us).
I think life (good & bad)is all I have and I don't fear death (just the manner in which it may happen) I'm told often that my lack of belief in God will guarentee me a place in Hell but their idea of heaven sounds worse than life is now for me! I'm not sure which I'd find worse!
Just do what the sensible do and try and get through it as best you can!

Some people might think that. And i would understand why they would think that. Life is very hard sometimes and taking your life or not just existing to escape ur problems seem really good at the time. Isay life is not as worse as death. Life is like a challenge to me. Its full of obstacles and wrong turns. U can make life glorious or u can fu** it all up. Life is a choice. Its your choice on how you want it to turn out.

Life is to some dreadful, as to darkness light is harmful. But light to some is dreadful, for darkness conceals the truth, the only usefulness of the dark, is so we can sleep at night. Or for most, to sleep a lifetime. If life is a fate, then death is a wonderful thing, that is, to those who see life as darkness.
