I've been given an assignment... and the topic is "Economics of ecology"

You can look for some expected return functions (how to value an asset) that study how to manage a timber field or something like that (I saw this at Varian's Microeconomic Principles book) or perhaps utility functions correlating how much polution people are willing to burden in exchange for wealth, Pigou taxes and externalities.

ecology is the study of the environment in a place..in relating it to economics...just think about it, most of the business in a place or in a country is in the urban area where most of the activities happen.the place is accessible. if a business is not accessible how will it be able to earn...

the firms that pollute, they have to deal heavily with the clean-up etc. furthermore, if the government has a cap and trade system of pollution permits (like the EU), then the firm has to deal with how many permits to buy and at what price to ensure that they are making reasonable profits.
