A range rover 4.0 V8 / auto/manual or 2.5l diesel can pull 3500kg on a braked trailer. This weight includes the weight of the trailer.

The answer depends on the trailer and the tow vehicle. A Searay is relatively heavy. Does the trailer support it properly and can you pull the weight compared to weight of range rover? What is the width of the boat. Some states have an 8 foot width limit.

We have towed a 23 foot sail boat with keel-centerboard with a dodge dakota It was 8 1/2 fee wide.(weight 3500)

a 26ft searay weighs a couple of tons.

so long as the trailer is braked you'll be perfectly legal with proper lights and plates.

I regularly tow a 3 car twin axle trailer with my SAAB - 3 cars must be 50 foot long and thats legal.

I'm nopt sure Edgarl is right. That would mean a car could never tow a trailer with a similar car on it, and thats just not true.

If your vehicle is powerful enough, you can tow anything with an 8 foot beam, without any special towing permits.
Most vehicles limit trailer towing capacity by weight. Full-size 4wd pick up trucks can usually tow up to 6 tons. Some with dual rear wheels can do more.

So long as the combined length of the towing vehicle and the boat is less than 60 feet and under 102 inches wide, you should be OK just about anywhere

The largest Searay I have seen trailered is the 29' hull with a 9'6" beam.

You would need more than a Range Rover to pull that.

I am only sure of one thing. If boat and trailer weigh more than the towing vehicle, all other things being ok you will commit an offence. If it looks that way the Police will certainly take you to the nearest weighbridge for a check.

The answer is logically the wt. of towing vehicle and the wt
of the vehicle being towed , If your towing vehicle wt is
5,000 lbs does it make sense to to tow, 10,000 safely??
rear suspensions on normal vehicles even Range Rovers are
not strong enough. even with stabilizers

a 26 foot boat would tow beautifully as long as it was on a twin axle fully breaked trailer

The max width I believe is 106" to transport on hiways but it depends on your state. Length is not usually an issue, probably around 45 feet
