There has been a recent spate of 911 conspiracy movies and I have to say that some of them make a very compelling case. The best of them is "911 Mysteries: Demolitions", which contends that the WTC was brought down by controlled demolition. You can watch it here, along with many other good films:

So, if there is any shred of truth in this, what should we do? Are you not angry about it?

Can I just say that unless you've looked at the evidence, would you please not reply to this question? The evidence is there for you to watch/read and THEN make a judgement. If you are going to wander around life making judgements on important matters, without even bothering to find anything out about them, then anything you say on the subject is worthless. Do your research, think and then talk. If you can't be bothered to do that, then keep your vacuous opinions to yourself.

I should maybe qualify my previous comment............if you have some knowledge on the subject, then please feel free to comment. I am interested in what people think, but only if they have taken the time to learn something about it. Sadly, most of the answers I have received so far are based on absolutely nothing..........that is potentially more worrying than anything.

There have been some valid points so far........and some totally brainless ones.

To answer one or two of them so far.......

1. Why would the US government do such a
thing?

Because they were desperate to attack Iraq and needed justification for it. NATO never sanctioned an invasion of Iraq (which made it an illegal attack) and so Bush and his cronies needed an excuse to go it alone. You lot need to do some research. 911 has given Bush ample excuse to attack Iraq, Bin Laden (who the FBI have now admitted had nothing to do with it), introduce the Patriot Act which allows them to lock you away in Guantanomo Bay without trial under a flimsy definition of "terrorist activities". How do you stay in power? Strike fear into your nation and portray yourself as the protector of it.

2. I'm not trying to stir anything. To date, no one has been identified as the 911 terrorists. Given your attitude, I suppose I should shut up and let the mass-murderers get away with it? I won't.

Just one point........

Are you aware that the WTC was a steel constructed building? It was designed in the 1960s specifically to cope with a 707 (the largest airliner at the time) crashing into it.

The 911 Commission report stated that the fire brought down the WTC.

In the history of construction, only three steel constructed buildings have ever fallen down because of fire. Those were the north tower of the WTC; the south tower of the WTC and tower 7 of the WTC.

How spooky is that? Never happened before and then it happens three times in one day.

Did you know about tower 7? This was a 47 story building in the WTC complex. The 911 Commission report states that they have no idea why it fell down. Fireman in and around these buildings heard multiple explosions and said they fell down just like you see in a demolition. Don't take my word for it - watch the footage. Make your own mind up.

Do you realise that of the 19 terrorists identified as being involved in the 911 attacks, over half of them have been found alive and well around the world? How could the CIA have got that so badly wrong? And no political body has come forward to claim responsibility. And yeah, I do believe Bush and co would try to pull off such a stunt. After all, this is the guy who used his family to cheat in the 2000 presidential election. It's universally known now that Gore was winning the Florida vote, until Bush and co intervened to prevent black people and felons from voting (they would have voted for Gore). Aside from that, the manual counts indicated that Gore had won anyway, but they were rejected by the election administration (who incidentally had ties to Bush). We know Bush lied about WMD. So yeah, I believe he'd do anything to stay in power, even murdering his own citizens to instil fear in them to justify an illegal war.

I think it is quite possible for the American government to be willing to "sacrifice" the lives of it's citizens. After all, the American government has had no problem with experimenting on American military personnel in the past. It had no problem with abandonning many of the veterans who served in Vietnam, the last Gulf War, and now the Iraq War. The government is good at sacrificing it's people for the sake of profit. That's what 911 was about. Finding a way to get pipelines into Afghanistan and Iraq so American oil companies could make lots of cash. Am I angry about this? Yes. Do I think there is anything I can do about it? Not really. Since the Patriot Act has been written into law, my government frightens me. The Bill of Rights has no meaning. The Constitution has no meaning. All they have to do is say "suspected ties with terrorists" and the government can do what they like with you. I live in a communist country and almost every American I've met here feels safer here than in our own supposedly democratic homeland. Now if that isn't frigged up, I don't know what is?

I believe that you can't rule out the possibility...
I am sorry I didn't watch your evidence but I have seen many other evidenced cliams such as Mike Rupperts and the original clip of NBC4 TV of the 911 event as well as the Fahrenheit 911.
They all have their evidence ready and the US government is definitely using ppl's anger and feelings, not evidence to counter them. So I would say the possibility is that US government may have done some consipiracy against its own ppl, but what can we do about it now? Think we should make ppl accept the fact, and then maybe the government itself..

If I believed the conspiracies I'd be angry but much of the evidence is too slim. The WTC did not have to collapse to justify action against Afghanistan. Having the planes crash into them and the resulting loss of life would have been enough.

Additional reply. I have seen and read much of the evidence and stand by my answer.

i dont buy it.do you really think bush and co would risk pulling such a stunt? there are sane ,sensible people in the us as well as the george.w's,someone involved in the planning or setup of it would be feeling tremeNDous guilt ,and would have blabbed.instead of 2nd/3rd hand recollections.what about the 19 men identified as the terrorists? this is too big to be 'made up'the repercussions for those involved would be unprecedented .go back to your x-files.

I'm angry at the terrorists that carried out these horrific acts and refuse to get sucked into conspiracy theories....we need to focus our attention on caring for the victims, supporting those who fight terrorism and prepare ourselves to ensure this doesn't happen again.

All conspiracy theories rest on two assumptions:

1) The government is competent
2) Thousands of people can keep a secret.

I don't believe either is true.

Don't you think something would have already been done about it if there was truly enough evidence to support the conspiracies. All these conspiracy movies and documentaries only show one side, their side to make you a believer.

If this is indeed true, the culprits must be brought to justice, or there will be no more U.S. soon.It seems like more and more of our freedoms are being stripped away by this so called "national security" thing.
